Seahawks release WR Williams
If the Seattle Seahawks are to add to their depth at wide receiver before training camp officially begins, it won’t be by taking on a reclamation project.
The team released Reggie Williams on Friday, adding the latest speed bump to the former first round draft pick’s road back to the NFL. Williams had signed with the Seahawks as a free agent earlier in the offseason as a free agent. Williams has been out of the league for a year and is currently serving two years’ probation for a cocaine possession charge he faced in 2009. The former University of Washington star had spent the entirety of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, never living up to the potential and hype.
To date, Williams has 189 catches and 18 touchdowns in his five year career.
